Thonotosassa

Thonotosassa comes from the Seminole word ronoto and sasv meaning the place was a source of valuable flint.  This area was home to Seminole Indians until after 1842 and in 1893 the Tampa and Thonotosassa railroad was opened joining the two communities.  Today it is home to many high end homes and near Plant City and home to Lake Thonotosassa.
